According to Uli Hoeness, the manager of Bayern Munich, Nicolas Jackson will rejoin Chelsea in the summer of next year and “definitely not” sign a long-term deal with the German champions. Jackson joined Bayern Munich on transfer deadline day on an initial loan agreement, seemingly ending his Chelsea career.

According to reports, Bayern spent £14 million to sign Jackson on loan for the remainder of the 2025–26 campaign. If he played a certain amount of games, they would then purchase him permanently for £56 million the following summer.

That appeared to be excellent business for Chelsea, who paid £32 million for Jackson two summers ago and were open to offers after acquiring Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. However, Hoeness, the head of Bayern, has disclosed that Jackson must start 40 games in order to secure a permanent transfer to Munich, which he claims will never happen.

Nicolas Jackson’s Chelsea exit in doubt

Only on the day of the transfer deadline, when the striker and his agent intervened, did Jackson’s transfer to Bayern come to pass. Due to a hamstring injury sustained by Liam Delap, Chelsea first changed their minds and insisted that the Senegal international return to London.

Jackson was able to join the German powerhouses on loan because Chelsea called up Marc Guiu from Sunderland, with a £56.2 million purchase clause that would be activated if he played a certain amount of games. After two years at Stamford Bridge, Jackson seems to be looking forward to a permanent stay with Bayern after reflecting on the turbulent transfer.

“Football is full of cycles,” Jackson stated in reference to the transfer. The game includes the fact that things don’t always go as planned. I like [Enzo] Maresca; he taught me a lot and has a distinct style and set of beliefs. At this point in my career, I simply wanted something new. I am thankful for my time at Chelsea and have no regrets.

“I am completely focused on my new project, and I am very excited to experience the amazing atmosphere at the Allianz Arena,” he continued.
