TalkSPORT understands that Newcastle is interested in signing Noni Madueke, a winger for Chelsea. Following the signing of Pedro Neto, the star player for Wolves, the Blues are probably open to bids for the winger. English sensation Madueke joined the west Londoners in January 2023, but that was only a year and a half ago. After making an impression with the Dutch powerhouses PSV Eindhoven, he joined in a £28.5 million deal.
The former Tottenham academy product had a sluggish start at Stamford Bridge, but near the close of the previous season, he started to demonstrate his abilities. With three of his goals coming in the last eight games of the season, he finished with five Premier League goals in 23 appearances.
Newcastle want Noni Madueke, Maresca want to sell
The Chelsea No.11 is available after Enzo Maresca decided to sign Pedro Neto to play on the right flank in a £54m move from Wolves, with the Blues needing to balance their finances. Newcastle is therefore on red alert after the Portugal international joined Chelsea, with the Magpies closely monitoring Madueke’s situation and believing they have a good chance of signing the man born in Barnet.
There was fierce competition for spots at Chelsea due to their vast roster, as he only started 13 of his 23 league games. His chances of playing time are now expected to decrease as Neto signed for a reported £51 million fee. With its forward line currently overburdened under new boss Enzo Maresca, Chelsea needs to find a way to balance the bills following yet another summer of extravagant spending.
