Napoli eyeing double Chelsea swoop for Kepa Arrizabalaga and Romelu Lukaku

Napoli, under the guidance of Antonio Conte, are actively pursuing Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku and Kepa Arrizabalaga in a bid to strengthen their squad this summer.

While a swap deal involving Lukaku and Napoli’s star striker Victor Osimhen has been the primary focus, recent reports suggest that the Italian club is also considering bringing in Kepa as they look for a new goalkeeper.

Chelsea’s roster, currently bloated with talent, is expected to see several exits before the transfer window closes. Kepa and Lukaku are among the players who could be on their way out, especially with neither making the trip to the United States for the team’s pre-season tour.

Napoli’s interest in Kepa aligns with their need to bolster their goalkeeping options. With the 29-year-old Spanish international on the fringes at Chelsea, this move could offer him a fresh start.

Kepa, who joined Chelsea for a staggering £71 million from Athletic Bilbao in 2018, has struggled to justify his hefty price tag and weekly wages of £150,000.

Lukaku, currently Chelsea’s joint-highest earner alongside Raheem Sterling at £325,000 per week, also finds himself on the periphery. For Chelsea, offloading these high earners is not just about trimming the squad but also about financial prudence.

For Kepa, the dream has always been to play for Real Madrid. However, with Andriy Lunin already backing up Thibaut Courtois, opportunities in the Spanish capital seem limited.

A move to Napoli could thus be the perfect opportunity for the beleaguered goalkeeper to reignite his career.

As Napoli weighs its options, the potential arrival of both Lukaku and Kepa could significantly boost their prospects for the upcoming season.

For Chelsea, these deals could offer much-needed relief, both on the pitch and financially.
