Chelsea FC most expensive player: Mykhailo Mudryk

The winger for Chelsea in London, Mykhailo Mudryk, is Ukrainian and has tested positive for doping. It was discovered that the 23-year-old player’s blood contained a prohibited chemical; the ‘A’ sample was taken in October 2024. We will soon open the ‘B’ sample. Should the journalists’ claims be verified, the Ukrainian player for the national team might be subject to a protracted suspension. In 15 club games during the 2024–2025 season, Mykhailo Mudryk contributed three goals and five assists. At the moment, Transfermarkt valued the player at 30 million euros.

The winger is reportedly awaiting the outcome of the B sample after having his A sample flagged. Should he be proven guilty, he might face harsh penalties, such as a ban. There have been virtually no reports of performance-enhancing drugs in the Premier League, which has led some people to assume that they are simply ignoring the problem most of the time.

Chelsea player faces ban after alleged failed doping test

Mudryk is known as a bit of a gym rat and puts a lot of workout-related content on his social media, which is hardly a smoking gun but is an unfortunate coincidence at best. The winger has been out of the Chelsea squad since being an unused sub against Aston Villa at the start of this month. Manager Enzo Maresca has repeatedly referred to him as being “ill,” which had started to feel suspect after more than two weeks without an update.

Mudryk has struggled since making his big money move from Shakhtar. A flash of quality on his debut has been followed by further flashes, and there has certainly been an upward trend this season, albeit mainly against very poor sides. But not only does he not look like he’s worth the money we paid at the moment, he looks very doubtful to ever reach that level now. That deal somehow becomes even worse if this news is confirmed.
