Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk might face a lengthy suspension after the Football Association charged him with doping. According to FA regulations, the winger could be banned for four years after providing a positive A sample the previous season. It is believed that the prohibited performance-enhancing substance meldonium was present in Mudryk’s bloodstream.
The Ukraine international hasn’t played since last November after being placed on temporary suspension as he and Chelsea awaited the results of a B sample.
According to an FA representative, “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with anti-doping rule violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance in accordance with Regulations 3 and 4 of the FA’s Anti-Doping Regulations.” We are unable to comment at this time due to the continuing nature of the situation. Chelsea chose not to respond.
Mudryk’s case was taken on by Morgan Sports Law following his temporary suspension. Former Manchester United and Juventus player Paul Pogba appealed a four-year doping penalty, which the court of arbitration for sport lowered to 18 months, on behalf of the firm.
Chelsea winger charged by FA with anti-doping violations
The 23-year-old said he “has never knowingly used any banned substances” when Chelsea began their own probe in December. Nothing in his diet is believed to have altered since he passed a UK Anti-Doping test in August; therefore, Mudryk believes his sample was tainted.
Mudryk has been following a personal training regimen at home, as he is not permitted to exercise at Cobham. Despite being pictured wearing a Chelsea bodywarmer, he was not a member of the traveling party when he attended the Conference League final in Poland in a personal capacity.
According to FA regulations, a player must be notified of a positive test and placed on provisional suspension prior to a formal charge being decided. Chelsea has been ready for anything like this. They had Jadon Sancho, who filled Mudryk’s place, on loan from Manchester United the previous season.
During his press conference in the United States on Sunday, Enzo Maresca stated that they would undoubtedly sign a winger this summer due to Sancho’s departure and the current lack of availability of Mudryk.
