Monaco want £60m for midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni
That appears to be enough to deter Real Madrid, but it is more likely to pique Chelsea’s interest.
Declan Rice appeared to be the frontrunner to be Chelsea’s primary man of the future in midfield. He possesses all of the necessary tools, plays the appropriate role, and is a former academy player. However, he is an England international and is expected to cost more than £60 million.
Tchouameni appears to be reasonably inexpensive as a result, even if Madrid believes he is overvalued.
But is this truly what we want to see Chelsea accomplish right now? We know Rice has Premier League experience and will most likely step in and produce in Thomas Tuchel’s midfield right immediately.
Tchouameni, despite his quality, is an unknown commodity in the English game — and Chelsea has a poor track record in recent years of acquiring box-to-box midfielders from Monaco.
Liverpool, Manchester United and other interested parties across Europe have also been told that Aurelien Tchouameni will cost just short of £60m if he is to leave Monaco in the summer.
