According to a report in Daily Mail, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has been a offered a chance to manage AS Roma amidst intense of his current job at Stamford Bridge.
The former Napoli boss has been under immense pressure at Chelsea after humiliating losses at Bournemouth and Manchester City. The defeat on Monday at the hands of Manchester United further compounded the troubles.
With Sarri’s future uncertain in England, Roma are trying to quickly install him as their next manager, preferably at the start of next season.
Franco Baldini and president James Pallotta have had dinner with him in London, as per the reports in Italy.
There have been suggestions that current Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco is very likely to leave the Olympico at the end of the season, with sporting director Monchi’s future also in doubt.
Sarri, who had a good time managing Napoli in the Serie A, is Roma’s first-choice replacement in the summer.
Reports say Chelsea could sack him if the team loses either of Manchester City or Tottenham game coming up in the near future.
The Blues play the Cityzens on Sunday in the Carabao Cup final, then a game against Spurs awaits three days later.
