Mateo Kovacic reveals his role in Josko Gvardiol pursuit.
The Croatian midfielder has recommender RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol to Chelsea in the final days of the summer window.
The Blues reportedly made a €90m bid for the centre-back but a move failed to materialise on the deadline day.
The duo started their career at Dinamo Zagreb who Chelsea lost to the previous night.
Kovacic hopes to one day play alongside the 20-year-old at the club level.
A move maybe revisited in January although they are expected to face some competition from other top European clubs.
Kovacic said: “At the club, they asked me about Joško, I told them all the best.
“I don’t need to say anything about his football, they know what kind of player he is, and his character is excellent.
“I have seen in the national team how eager he is to play, he has a great career ahead of him, and I hope that one day we will play together in the club.”
