Mason Mount has established himself as a regular under Gareth Southgate.
The Chelsea playmaker netted England’s second goal against Germany last night and he believes scoring for the nation is always ‘special.’
If Mount makes it to the England squad for the World Cup, it would be his second biggest tournament of his country.
“To score a goal at Wembley is such a special moment and hear the fans celebrate, it means so much. I haven’t scored in a while, so it was a good time for it to come,” Mason said after his goal.
“The World Cup is what you dream of as a kid. It’s soon going to be upon us, and I can’t really put it into words that first game. I was lucky enough to be watching it in Russia as a fan. To feel that atmosphere and to hopefully be involved in it is going to be an unbelievable moment for us all,” Mount said in quotes on the club’s official website.
“We need to stick together that is the most important thing. We showed in the second half that we can do that going forward.”
