Maresca announced that the situation regarding the 27-year-old had changed.
Club manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Chelsea’s exiled player will be back to the squads for the EFL Cup clash. As per updates, Blues defender Ben Chilwell is set to return against League Two leaders Barrow on Tuesday night.
Englishman was not part of the Chelsea squad this season and he was supposed to leave the club during the summer transfer window. Chilwell was forced to train away from the first team.
Maresca announced that the situation regarding the 27-year-old had changed and now intends to include the defender in his squad for the third-round cup tie.
Blues head said ahead of the EFL Cup tie, “I think so. Hopefully we can give him some minutes tomorrow. The idea for him was to leave. In the moment that he’s here, he’s one of the squad, he’s training.
“He will be in the squad tomorrow and hopefully we can give him some minutes.”
Chilwell was last seen on April 20 against Man City in FA Cup semifinal. He also had hamstring and knee injuries. This is the reason he was not included in England’s squad.
