Marcos Alonso is “top of the list” for Barcelona

We’re hearing more and more about a potential Marcos Alonso move to Barcelona

When Fabrizio Romano claims anything, you can be quite certain it’s coming from a source close to the transaction, which in this case might be from Alonso’s camp or from Barcelona as they try to lay the groundwork for a summer move.

The left back is reportedly “top on the list” for the Blaugrana and is expected to return to Spain.

If it’s true that they’re interested and ready to make a decent deal, it’s a no-brainer for Chelsea. They have Ben Chilwell back from injury as their first choice left back next season, and Thomas Tuchel doesn’t appear to like Alonso — he yanked him out at half time yesterday, for example.

Marcos Alonso is said to have decided on a move to Chelsea based on the’major appeal’ of following in his father’s footsteps at Barcelona. The Spaniard’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in a year, but he may be allowed to depart when Thomas Tuchel overhauls his team.

The heritage of Alonso’s father, Marcos Alonso Pena, is said to be fuelling his drive to join the Catalan giants. Pena played five years with Barcelona and was dubbed a “idol” by the La Liga team.
But, with Barcelona showing an interest, Alonso has notified the Blues of his ‘want to go,’ opening the door for the Catalan club to confirm their interest.

This could be the summer he actually goes.
