Marcos Alonso Confirms Training Ground Bust-Ups At Chelsea

Marcos Alonso did not view confrontation between his teammates as a negative thing.

Antonio Rudiger and Kepa Arrizabalaga reportedly engaged in an angry confrontation during training.

It was after Chelsea’s shock 5-2 defeat to West Bromwich Albion. Of course, tensions were high after the Blues took their first defeat in 13 games. Thomas Tuchel was less than pleased with his side and stressed the need to improve.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s clash against FC Porto in the Champions League, Alonso said, “These are things that happen. It shows the level of competition that there is in the team, the hunger.

“We saw it even on the training ground and that is good for the team. Even before training was finished it was all good. [It is] nothing new, it has always happened and it will still happen. We just need to take the positives and move on, get ready for the next game.”

Right now, Rudiger and Kepa are bound to get frustrated. Neither are playing regularly under Tuchel with very uncertain futures at West London. Many are expecting to see both players head out the Stamford Bridge doors this summer.
