Chelsea’s senior defender David Luiz has expressed his joy in his reunion with current Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.
The duo played together for Chelsea for over two seasons when Luiz joined Chelsea the first time around. They had a very successful spell where they won one UEFA Champions League and one UEFA Europa League. And now the dynamic duo has been reunited as player and coach.
“It’s great to see him [Lampard] here,” Luiz told the club’s official website.
“He’s someone who knows what it means to be at Chelsea and understands the DNA of this club. We are working well so far, everyone is getting along and the sessions have been great.
“Lamps, or should I say ‘Gaffer’, is now our leader and he’s going to try to do everything he can like he did when he was a player, and now it’s up to us to help him build the spirit and the philosophy around the club to be successful.”
Luiz is now one of the senior players at Chelsea and he will be expected to be a leader in the dressing room in the new look side under Lampard.
