New Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior secured his first win in charge with a commanding 5-1 FA Cup third-round victory over Charlton Athletic, singling out striker Marc Guiu for special praise.

Marc Guiu Earns Special Praise From New Chelsea Manager Rosenior

The Blues overcame a slow start at Stamford Bridge, breaking the deadlock just before halftime through Jorrel Hato’s first club goal.

They then dominated the second period with further strikes from Tosin Adarabioyo, Pedro Neto, Enzo Fernandez, and Guiu himself.

It was the young Spaniard’s contribution that most pleased the new boss. Guiu notched his third goal of the season across three competitions and led the line persistently against Charlton’s defensive setup.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Rosenior was effusive in his praise.

“I thought Marc Guiu was magnificent,” he stated.

“He deserved his goal.”

The 18-year-old worked tirelessly against a compact opposition, earning his reward before making way for fellow forward Liam Delap. His performance offers a timely positive impression as he fights for a future at the club.

Guiu’s situation remains uncertain. He began the season on loan at Sunderland and returned only due to squad shortages.

With Delap and João Pedro typically ahead in the pecking order, and new signings anticipated, minutes will be hard to earn.

This cup run may present his best opportunity. If he continues to deliver “magnificent” displays like this, he will give Rosenior a compelling selection dilemma as Chelsea progress in the competition.
