Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior delivered a positive fitness update on Cole Palmer, calling the midfielder “scary good” following his game-changing display against Napoli on Wednesday night.

‘No Way He Could Start’ – Rosenior on Palmer’s Managed Return

Palmer entered the Champions League clash at half-time and promptly provided two assists for Joao Pedro, driving Chelsea to a crucial 3-2 comeback victory.

His creative performance marked a powerful return after an injury absence.

Despite this impact, Rosenior insisted he never considered starting the England international.

He emphasized a careful approach to managing Palmer’s workload following his recent layoff.

“There was no way that Cole could have started this game and played through to 60, 70, 80 minutes,” Rosenior stated after the match.

“We need to look after him. He’s had so many games over a long period of time.”

The manager clarified, however, that the 21-year-old is now back to full fitness.

“Hopefully we can now see the best of him now that he’s fully fit,” Rosenior added, praising Palmer’s professionalism during his recovery.

Rosenior highlighted that Palmer’s contribution against Napoli extended far beyond his two assists.

“I felt Cole’s performance was magnificent. Not just his quality, his pressing, his running for the team.”

The Chelsea boss also took time to commend the collective effort from his squad, namechecking several other players for their roles in the important win.

The victory sealed a top-eight finish in the Champions League group stage and marked Rosenior’s fifth win in his first six games in charge.

For Chelsea supporters, the sight of a fully fit and influential Palmer, combined with the team’s resilient mentality, provides significant optimism as the season enters a critical phase.
