New Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior is actively urging the club to accelerate the transfer of striker Emmanuel Emegha from Strasbourg during the current January window, according to TEAMtalk.
New Chelsea Manager Seeks Quick Reunion With Strasbourg Striker
Rosenior, who worked directly with Emegha during his tenure at the French club, is said to be in discussions with the Chelsea hierarchy about bringing the 22-year-old forward to Stamford Bridge immediately.
The Dutch striker is already set to join the Blues in a pre-arranged summer move, but Rosenior believes his impact is needed now.
This push comes despite Chelsea already having considerable options in attack.
Joao Pedro has served as the primary striker this season and impressed in Saturday’s win over Brentford, while substitute Liam Delap also made a positive impact from the bench.
Integrating a third senior striker like Emegha mid-season would present Rosenior with a clear selection challenge, forcing him to balance the ambitions of all three players.
The potential move carries significant controversy. Strasbourg supporters have already expressed fury over Rosenior’s mid-season departure to Chelsea and the initial agreement to sell Emegha in the summer.
Moving that transfer forward to January is viewed as a final provocation, likely to further anger a fanbase that feels exploited by Chelsea’s ownership group, BlueCo.
Chelsea’s main focus this window remains securing a central defender, with Jeremy Jacquet a key target, but Rosenior’s direct request adds a new layer to their planning.
The club must now decide whether securing Emegha early is worth the considerable financial outlay and the guaranteed backlash from Strasbourg.
