Leicester City has reportedly approached Chelsea for Callum Hudson-Odoi.
As the summer transfer window dwindles down to an end, we can still expect plenty of activity on deadline day.
The Foxes seem to have made a shock enquiry about Chelsea’s academy product. Hudson-Odoi is not a regular starter under Thomas Tuchel and has been struggling for playing time this season. With majority of minutes going to Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount and Timo Werner, Hudson-Odoi could be pulled into a Chelsea exit.
The 20-year-old winger has seen his Chelsea career hit dramatic highs and lows in a very short period of time. Tuchel earlier seemed to be mentoring him for a more important role under him at Chelsea. But Hudson-Odoi quickly fell down the pecking order despite playing in different roles.
He might struggle further this season with the level of competition around him at Stamford Bridge. But perhaps a move elsewhere can still reignite his career. Borussia Dortmund were the first ones interested in him this summer. Leicester City are shrewd investors themselves with always an out for promising talent.
Brendan Rodgers could mould Hudson-Odoi into the creative player he originally showed promise of. But can Chelsea afford to give up squad depth in their pursuit of silverware this term?
