Frank Lampard’s former teammates Glen Johnson has praised the Chelsea coach for his successful stint so far.

The duo played together for England and also Chelsea for a short while and Johnson has revealed how Frank Lampard always had brilliant coaching instincts.

“He always had that coaching instinct, after games, talking to coaches, speaking tactics so I always thought he’d be a manager one day, definitely,” Johnson told Express Sport.

“I was surprised he was given the Chelsea job so soon but I thought he was definitely destined for it in the future.

“Having said that, it was the perfect time for him because of the transfer ban and they would have to give somebody time anyway, so it’s great to see him getting the job done.”

Frank Lampard has so far done a brilliant job with this young Chelsea team. After a tough start to the season, where they were beaten 4-0 by the Red Devils at Old Trafford, Frank’s men have done really well to claw their way back into the top four and are currently above Manchester City, who they meet next weekend.

Lampard will hoping to get a seventh straight win on the trot in the league and keep up the momentum for his young team.
