Lampard slams Chelsea players

Frank Lampard was not a happy man as Chelsea crashed to a 2-1 defeat at Wolves.

The Blues engaged in a cagey affair at Molineaux and came out with nothing at the end of 90 minutes. Although Chelsea took the lead early in the second half, Frank’s team lost the plot and the energy and Wolves ultimately ousted them with 2 comeback goals to win the match.

“At 1-0 we should see the game out,” Lampard said. “If you’re not playing that well, which we weren’t tonight, hang on to 1-0. Control the game. Don’t allow counter-attacks. And we did.

“Performance. Performance is what gives you results, and we had a long run of good performances but maybe the lads think we’re playing well, and when you think you’re playing well this is what happens.”

This is Chelsea’s second defeat on the bounce after losing 1-0 to Everton and while the defeat at Goodison can be called one off day, the performance against Wolves was simply below standard especially after taking the lead in a tough away fixture.

Chelsea will have no time to reflect as games against Aston Villa, Arsenal and Man City will now come thick and fast.
