Lampard reveals reason behind Mount snub

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea slumped to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Southampton at home last night.

This makes it 5 defeats in 7 matches for Lampard’s Chelsea who are enduring one of their worst starts to the new season.

What is even more frustrating for Chelsea fans is that their team is playing good football but a lack of killer instinct in the final third is costing them the close encounters.

Last night yet again despite making chances, Lampard’s men failed to take advantage of the situation and were trailing after half time. Asked why he did not bring on Mason Mount, Lampard revealed that the player is carrying a knock.

“Mason has been feeling rough the last few days. It brightened it a bit but not enough,” he said in quotes picked up by the Sun. But he wasn’t letting anyone say that his team had improved much in the second half:

“We controlled the game but we are not getting anything in the box. It’s a testing period but we have to deal with that.”

Chelsea will have to find a solution soon or this relegation form of their team might cost the Blues legend his job at the Stamford Bridge hot seat.
