Chelsea coach Frank Lampard has revealed the massive problem he has been given by Mason Mount.
Mount is a Chelsea academy player who was sent out on loan to Derby County last season where Lampard was in charge of the team. Mount had a breakthrough season in the Championship and was given a chance this pre-season to impress at Chelsea after returning from his loan.
It seems Mount has taken a full advantage of that opportunity by playing a brilliant pre season, showcasing not only his skills and potential but also his work rate and determination to succeed at Chelsea.
“Obviously I worked with him last year and I’m really happy with how he’s trained and his status within the group,” Lampard said, quoted by the Metro.
“He has done a lot. The other players recognise quality instantly but they also recognise work rate and character.
“Mason has got all of those and he has given me a problem.
“I couldn’t have asked for any more of Mason that what he has done.”
Mount is yet to make a senior appearance for the Blues and will have to fight off competition from the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley to win the CAM spot.
