Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has said that he looks at N’Golo Kante as much more than only a central defensive midfielder.
The dynamic little Frenchman came to the Premier League and joined Leicester in the 2015-16 season.
In his very first season, he helped the club win the Premier League. Eventually he was signed by Chelsea for his good performance and in his debut season at Chelsea, he again won the Premier League. On both occasions, he was deployed as a central defensive midfielder.
However, the arrival of Sarri saw the situation change as the Italian wanted Jorginho in central defensive midfield with N’Golo Kante playing box to box. This enraged Chelsea fans but Kante adopted well.
Now even Lampard has refused to only use Kante as a defensive midfielder.
“I don’t think him being best defensive midfielder is the right story, he is much more than,” Lampard insisted at his pre-match press conference.
“He has shown all of those assets. He has shown that.
“It depends how we set up, he and Jorginho have different skills. It is not a like for like. As a unit.”
Kante is due to return soon.
