Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara has finally addressed his dramatic failed transfer to Chelsea, revealing how a chaotic chain of events on deadline day prevented his dream move to Stamford Bridge.

Lamine Camara Breaks Silence on Collapsed Chelsea Move

The Senegal international emerged as Chelsea’s primary target to replace Enzo Fernandez after the Blues sanctioned the Argentine’s £120million departure to Manchester City.

Chelsea pursued Camara aggressively, eventually agreeing a €55million (£47.1m) fee with Monaco in the dying stages of the transfer window.

However, the deal spectacularly collapsed due to an unrelated transaction. Monaco had negotiated a £40m sale of striker Folarin Balogun to Everton, but the Toffees raised concerns during the American’s medical.

When Everton ultimately decided to proceed with the signing, Monaco responded by withdrawing from their agreement with Chelsea.

Balogun then rejected Everton due to his own medical concerns, but with time expiring, Camara’s move to West London could not be resurrected.

Speaking publicly for the first time since the ordeal, Camara insisted he has moved forward.

“It’s true that it was a hectic moment, but that is part of being a professional footballer,” he told reporters.

“I tried to be professional and not think too much about it.”

The 21-year-old admitted the possibility of joining Chelsea excited him but refused to dwell on the disappointment.

“Football moves quickly and maybe other chances will come. For now, I am focused on what I can bring and on the season at Monaco.”

Camara revealed he leaned on former Chelsea midfielder Denis Zakaria for support during the aftermath.

“He spoke to me a lot the day after about what happened,” Camara explained.

“Denis has played at top clubs; he says that these things happen.”

The midfielder’s agent, former Premier League striker Diomansy Kamara, voiced his frustration more forcefully, arguing that African players deserve greater respect in transfer negotiations.

“Behind every contract, there’s a man, a career, dreams and life choices,” he wrote on Instagram.

“The player must be able to be heard and respected in the decisions that determine his future.”
