Kepa Arrizabalaga is seizing the opportunity of Mendy who is out for AFCON.
Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is glad after getting the opportunity under Thomas Tuchel. Kepa is part of Chelsea’s first lineup as regular goalkeeper Mendy is not available due to AFCON 2021. The 27-year-old is seizing his opportunity.
Kepa told DAZN (via Football.London), “It’s true that I feel good, I think I’m in a good moment.
“Coach believes in me, from the beginning conveyed confidence in me, which for a goalkeeper is very important.
“I try to give it back to him in the best way, in every opportunity he gives me. Not to him, but to the team and to myself.”
Kepa’s future remains up in the air, but for now the 27-year-old goalkeeper seems to be focussing on performing for Chelsea.
“What I have been looking for at all times is to give my best in the circumstance or in the position I was in at all times,” he also added.
“Above all, to feel at peace with myself, to feel fulfilled and that I have done my best. That makes you feel at peace with yourself.”
Arrizabalaga has made 118 appearances since joining for a record £72m fee in 2018 and has kept 44 clean sheets during that period.
