N’Golo Kante remains injured for the upcoming Norwich City clash as well.
However, Lampard seems to think that the star Blues player might be fit enough soon to play for the FA cup semi final with Manchester United this weekend – so there’s a silver lining that way.
‘Kante’s not fit, so that’s the end of that one,’ Lampard said. ‘Christensen is back in the squad, and then the rest we’re where we were.
‘I don’t want to give my starting lineup away but we have a group that’s competing. I also have to think about the freshness of the squad.
‘As much as we would like a settled team, certain partnerships, for the reasons of where we’re at that hasn’t always been easy. We’ll see for tomorrow.’
Kante had not appeared for the Sheffield United either. With Norwich getting relegated and playing against Chelsea in the upcoming match, however, Lampard extended his sympathies.
“We have to treat them with utmost respect.”
“Wounded animal or whatever you want to call it, but they have quality players who have played very well in a lot of games this season where they can count themselves unfortunate not to get results. We will expecting a very tough game.”
