Juventus eyes Raheem Sterling as potential wing reinforcement
Juventus is reportedly setting its sights on Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling as they explore options to bolster their attack this summer.
According to sources in Italy, the Serie A giants are weighing up a move for the 29-year-old, who has struggled to find consistent form since his big-money transfer from Manchester City to Chelsea in 2022.
Sterling’s arrival at Stamford Bridge, which came with a hefty £50 million price tag, was expected to inject pace and creativity into the Blues’ frontline. However, despite showing flashes of brilliance, his performances have often fallen short of expectations.
Now, with Chelsea reportedly closing in on the signing of Wolves winger Pedro Neto for £51.4 million, Sterling’s place in the squad could be under threat.
Juventus, aware of Sterling’s situation, is believed to be exploring the feasibility of a loan deal. The Turin-based club is keen to add a dynamic winger to their ranks and sees Sterling as a viable option, especially given his experience and versatility.
However, Juventus is also considering other targets, including Porto’s Francisco Conceição and Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho.
Sterling, who still has three years left on his Chelsea contract, carries a hefty wage burden, with reports suggesting he earns over £300,000 per week.
Chelsea, under new management, might be inclined to offload the England international to free up their wage bill for other investments.
While Sterling turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia last summer, a move to Juventus could offer him a fresh start in a different league.
The coming weeks will be crucial as Juventus gathers more information to assess the viability of bringing Sterling to Italy.
