The race to replace Antonio Rudiger has begun now that it has been revealed that he will leave Chelsea
The defender’s departure will leave a significant void in the club, and it will require someone to fill that void both on and off the field. We’ve heard a lot about the same old names — Jules Kounde and Wesley Fofana, in particular – but we believe there’s something new in the works.
Chelsea are now interested in signing Joko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig as a substitute for Antonio Rüdiger.
Gvardiol, who has impressed in his debut season in the Bundesliga, has a “huge fan” in Thomas Tuchel.
However, the 20-year-old is content at RB Leipzig, and Chelsea has made no touch with the Croatian’s representation.
Tuchel announced on Sunday that Rüdiger has opted to leave Stamford Bridge when his contract expires at the end of the season, with the Germany international set to join Real Madrid, who are currently leading the race.
There has supposedly been no communication between Chelsea and his club, and he does not have a release clause, so the entire transaction might be costly.
