Jorginho won’t be leaving Chelsea this summer, according to his agent.
Rumours started surfacing about the Italian international’s potential exit from Stamford Bridge this summer.
Even after helping Chelsea to a second Champions League triumph, many were expecting to see the back of Jorginho. Perhaps that has to do with all the midfielders the club is being linked with. Fans also believe that Jorginho is a player they can upgrade over if Thomas Tuchel were to stick to his system.
But Jorginho’s representation said otherwise. Joao Santos told Radio Marte: “Jorginho is very well, he has won the Europa League and the Champions League and now the goal is to win the Euros.
“Yesterday [against Switzerland] he showed serious, proactive football with results.
“Obviously he won the Champions League and therefore there are enquiries from the main teams in Europe.
“But in my opinion, he will stay at Chelsea next year because the next goal is to play the World Cup in Qatar with Italy. And by staying at Chelsea he has great chances of doing so.”
Chelsea have a plethora of deadweight options they need to move on before they can consider selling Jorginho. The likes of Danny Drinkwater, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Michy Batshuayi, Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso is still on the club’s books.
