Chelsea star Jorginho’s agent has revealed that the player was never close to leaving the club.
Jorginho joined Chelsea from Napoli last season after then Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri made it an absolute must that he gets the Brazil born Italian midfielder in his team. Jorginho has had a mixed but first season but perhaps bore the brunt of the wrath of Chelsea fans because of his close connection to hated former boss Sarri.
With Sarri leaving for Juventus in the summer, there were rumours of Jorginho following suit. However, Chelsea’s most expensive midfielder stayed put and has also established himself as a regular in Frank Lampard’s team. With Jorginho’s team place now secure, his agent has revealed that the player was never looking to leave Chelsea.
His agent Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli: “We have mid-to-long-term project with Chelsea. There are five years left on his contract and let’s say he’d like to stay for at least another four years.”
Juventus for their bit, already have a battalion of midfielders, so many in fact that the likes of Emre Can do not even make the cut for the squad and hence moving for Jorginho on top would have been a silly idea.
