Brendan Rodgers would be perfect for Chelsea if Frank Lampard gets the sack.

Frank Lampard is getting the sticks after having lost four of their last six Premier League fixtures and reports suggest that Chelsea are currently looking for alternatives to their underfire manager.

Brendan Rodgers who spent time at Chelsea as manager of the Youth Team is considered as one of the options and Terry reveals how Rodgers was destined for the top.

When asked if Rodgers was destined for a bigger job Terry told Dubai Eye: “100%.”

“He’s doing great at Leicester, I’m sure he’s got targets to go and achieve at Leicester.

“But, a little insight, when [Jose] Mourinho was in charge, Brendan would have been youth team manager at the time, he used to come across and speak Spanish and Portuguese very fluently, would come in and have a really good rapport with all the players.

“Mourinho would let him in and let him observe and get him really involved.

“I had a spell where I wasn’t scoring. I felt, being a defender, it was a big part of my game as well. I hadn’t scored in nine games – which seems bizarre.

“But Brendan pulled me – and I probably wasn’t having my best games either – he pulled me, he had a video for me, a three or four minutes video.

“I was a first team player, he was the youth team manager, he pulled me and went ‘come into the office’.

“He was like: ‘I’ve seen you around the place – who motivates the motivator? This is what I’m here for. Have a look at this.’

“All my goals I’ve scored throughout my Chelsea career, tackles, blocks… He said: ‘Don’t you ever forget how good you are.’

“And you know what, it just was like: wow, that’s powerful, that. Funnily enough I scored the next game, I think, and kind of dedicated it to him.

“Little details like that, you go back in 2004/05, we’re talking nearly 20 years ago, that’s impressive from him. He was excellent.”
