He has picked 10 teammates alongside himself and has chosen to play the 4-3-3 formation.

Goalkeeper: Petr Cech

Petr Čech was born on 20 May 1982 in Plzeň, Czechoslovakia and plays for the Czech Republic national team and Chelsea F.C. as a goalkeeper.

Čech started playing football for the Viktoria Plzeň youth team as a halfback. At the age of 10 Petr got the leg fracture, which influenced his decision to move to the goalkeeper position.

In 1999, when he was 17, Petr Čech made his first professional appearance for FK Chmel Blšany. Petr also played for Sparta Prague, Stade Rennes and in January 2004 joined Chelsea F.C.

Čech didn’t become the number one goalkeeper of Chelsea at once as Carlo Cudicini was playing for the club at that time. Cudicini was considered the best Premier League goalkeeper, but after a number of Carlo’s serious mistakes Petr had understudied him. In 2005 Čech had a run of 1,025 minutes without conceding a goal and broke the record of legendary Peter Schmeichel.

Petr’s goalkeeper career was under threat after a depressed skull fracture, but he managed to overcome it, returned to his team before the term set by doctors and continued to show perfect results. In order to avoid further traumas Čech wears a special headguard – the peculiarity that bound him with a ‘Tankman’ nickname.

Nowadays Petr Čech is one of the top goalkeepers in the modern football. Petr has a whole store of honours, including 27 personal awards, 10 club trophies for Chelsea and 1 national prize for the Chech Republic football team.

Right-Back: Branislav Ivanovic

Branislav Ivanovic was born on 22 February 1984 in Sremska Mitrovica. He can play both centre back and right back.

Before 2006, Ivanovic was a player of the national U21 football team and in 2007 he was called the Player of the UEFA Cup Tournament. From 2006, the footballer plays for the senior team.

On 15 January 2008, Chelsea confirmed the club had agreed the terms of Branislav’s transfer, but he made the debut appearance in the first team only after eight months. On 8 April 2009, he netted his first goal for the club in the match against Liverpool during the Champions League quarter-final adding another one in the same match.

Mass media say that a lot of European clubs like Ajax, Juventus, Milan and Internazionale wanted to sign Branislav.

Centre-Back: John Terry

John Terry was born on 7 December 1980 in London, England and plays as a center back for Chelsea.

At the age of 11 he entered the West Ham United football academy and spent four years there. During that time John became one of the leading defenders of the youth team and attracted the attention of the best English academies. In 1995 Terry caught an eye of Chelsea scouts who asked him to play a demonstrative game. After that game the management of the club decided to invite John to their youth academy. From 1995 Terry was a Chelsea’s youth academy trainee and in 1998 he got the opportunity to become a professional footballer by signing his first professional contract with Chelsea F.C.

John began to play in the first team, but those appearances were rare and his level was not good enough to be a first team regular, thus he had to go on loan to Nottingham Forest. Terry made 6 starts in that temporary squad during one season.

John returned back to the club right before big changes implemented by Roman Abramovich, the Russian businessman, who bought Chelsea in the beginning of 2000s. Terry became one of the main candidates for the regular play in the first team in 2001-02. The back came up to the expectations of Claudio Ranieri (the club manager at that time), became the key defender of Chelsea F.C. and keeps this position up till now. John is a distinguished captain, centre back and paramount figure in the club that influences various aspects of Chelsea football life. Terry played in 373 games for Chelsea, netting 28 balls.

From 2000 John Terry played in nine matches of the England national U21 football team, scoring one goal. From 2003 John has been the key defender of the England national team where he has already played 90 times and scored 10 goals.

Centre-back: Ricardo Carvalho

Ricardo Carvalho was born in 1978 in Amarante, Portugal. Now he is a Monaco and former Portugal national team player.

Ricardo began his football career in Leça FC. Before joining a more respected Porto the player had to play several seasons on loan in other less honoured clubs. After Ricardo joined Porto he had no chance of becoming a solid main squad player. The team’s defence line was proved and well established and had no place for a novice. The player had to be on the reserve team and show his game level so that coaches should pay attention to him. Ricardo got his chance only when one of the Porto’s central defenders Jorge Costa left on a six-month loan. Ricardo used his chance to the utmost: he displayed the high professional level, determined defence skills and ability to make decisions quickly. It was thanks to his talent that the player managed to get recognition from Porto’s coach and the team’s supporters.

Ricardo joined Chelsea after José Mourinho became the club’s head coach as he needed a good central defender badly and chose a long tested player. Ricardo had his key place in the London’s club squad. The club owners were content with the coach’s choice as Carvalho was a ‘target’ for many distinguished clubs with Real Madrid among them.

Not only can Carvalho pass excellently and win the ball using his technique, he is splendid in jumping headers. It was the outstanding display at the UEFA Euro 2004 which secured him a place in the Team of the Tournament.

In August 2010, Real Madrid finally achieved their goal and obtained this central defender for 9 million euros. As many journalists said, José Mourinho clearly liked the player and tried to bring him to the clubs where he worked.

In August 2011, Ricardo told journalists he had finished his international career and that was a blow for all supporters as the Portugal national team lost a very valuable player. Later, the player said his decision was due to disrespect from the team’s coaching staff.

In 2013 Ricardo made what seemed to be the last move in his career by joining a French side Monaco.

During his career Ricardo won more than 40 individual and team awards, played almost 500 matches at various levels as well as scored 30 goals the majority of which were headers.

Quick, direct and skilful, Hazard is at his best running at defenders. Equally adept with either foot, the Belgian’s close control while carrying the ball at speed gives him regular scoring and creating opportunities, as demonstrated by his 13 goals and 25 assists in the 2012/13 campaign.

His second season at the Bridge was even more successful as he finished as the club’s top scorer and won the club’s Player of the Year award, as well as the PFA Young Player of the Year award. Matters got even better in a spectacular third year which ended with five high-profile individual accolades, the Premier League title and the Capital One Cup. The 2015/16 season fared less well but the Belgian was back to his best in 2016/17, again named Chelsea Player of the Year as he inspired to team to another league title.

He transferred to Marseille for the 2003-04 season, scoring 19 goals in 35 games to win the French Ligue 1 Player of the Year. Having reached his athletic prime, the 26-year-old was targeted by many of Europe’s top clubs, and Chelsea paid a transfer fee of roughly $36 million for his services in 2004.

Drogba’s performance was uneven in his first two seasons of Premier League play, and he drew heavy criticism for “diving,” the act of falling down after contact in hopes of drawing a foul, and for his outbursts at referees. But the powerful 6’2″ striker finally appeared comfortable in his third season, scoring 33 goals to win the Premier League Golden Boot, along with the game winners in the League Cup and FA Cup finals.

Drogba’s career with Chelsea ended in storybook fashion when he scored the winning goal in a penalty shootout against Bayern Munich in the 2012 Champions League final. Altogether, he scored 157 goals in 341 appearances with Chelsea, and helped the club to three English Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two League Cups.

Droba signed a lucrative deal with Shanghai Shenhua in June 2012, but his career in China was short-lived, as he played just 11 games with Shanghai before transferring to the Galatasaray club in Turkey.
