The legendary Jamie Carragher of Liverpool might perhaps rue his assessment of Chelsea prior to the start of the season. As players like Romelu Lukaku, Raheem Sterling, and Conor Gallagher were demoted to the so-called “bomb squad,” the Blues faced criticism during yet another transfer window of massive acquisitions.

Carragher criticized the club’s transfer policy in August, notwithstanding the low net spend amount. During Monday Night Football, Carragher stated, “Chelsea just needs to stop buying players.” “And players have got to stop signing for Chelsea.” Carragher also mentioned:

“There is nothing present there. This isn’t a young, dynamic team. Yes, you purchased Joao Felix. Please let me know where he will be playing. Neto was signed a week ago, but where will he play given that Cole Palmer is already there? Enzo Maresca has the Blues playing some excellent football, even though Neto and Joao Felix haven’t yet cemented a place in the starting lineup.

Jamie Carragher U-turn on Chelsea

Abruptly raising his hands, Jamie Carragher acknowledged that Chelsea’s early-season performance had taken him off guard. Quite the contrary he now regards them as a team that is actively competing, having previously believed they were nowhere near the top four.

Chelsea has shocked me a lot, Carragher stated in a conversation about the team on The Overlap. particularly in the road games, in my opinion. When the season started, I didn’t think you could really challenge it or have [Chelsea] anywhere in the top four, but it appears like you can now.
