Trevoh Chalobah, a centre back for Chelsea, is the target of intense interest from Inter Milan

The 23-year-old made his debut for Chelsea’s first team at the beginning of the 2021–22 season after joining the club in 2007 and progressing through the academy.

He participated in each game when Frank Lampard served as interim manager, but his use dwindled over the course of the entire season. According to Standard Sport, Inter is stepping up their efforts to recruit the center-back and is in daily contact with Chalobah’s team.

Chalobah is thought to be desperate to be playing regular football with an eye towards selection for England at Euro 2024. It is unclear whether incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino wants Chalobah to be part of the new project in west London.

Gareth Southgate has not yet selected Chalobah for the senior team. Chelsea values Chalobah at about £25 million, which is a sum Inter is willing to pay. The Champions League champions, who use a back three with Matteo Darmian (33) and Francesco Acerbi (35) both nearing the end of their careers, are hoping to replace their sagging defence.

Chalobah is a perfect fit for Inter’s style of play, and the club is interested in finding out whether Pochettino is prepared to go with the former England youth international. Last summer, Inter was interested in loaning Chalobah, but Chelsea rebuffed their efforts to sign the defender.
