Ian Holloway feels that 21-year old striker Tammy Abraham has what it takes to be a regular at Chelsea.
Abraham is a product of Chelsea’s youth academy and joined the senior team in 2016. However, the striker barely found any playing time at Chelsea as he spent most of the seasons on loan to other clubs.
Abraham spent the entirety of the 2018/19 season and played a key role in Villa gaining promotion to the Premier League. The 21-year old was the second highest scorer during the Championship, netting 25 goals while providing three assists.
With Abraham’s loan spell at Aston Villa over, he is back at Chelsea and Holloway feels that the youngster has done enough to cement his spot under new manager Frank Lampard.
Holloway said, “I’m so excited because I can see Tammy Abraham playing for Chelsea. He was the second-highest goalscorer in the Championship last season and he’s the record goalscorer in their youth set-up. So I’m delighted. I think he’s ready for it and it’s got to happen now.
Mason Mount will love the fact Frank trusts him as well.”
With Gonzalo Higuain leaving the club, Chelsea have only one striker in Olivier Giroud who while being the top scorer in the Europa League, did not impress in the Premier League. Now that Chelsea have a transfer ban, Frank Lampard will have to rely on the young strikers Chelsea have for the 2019/20 season.
Abraham did a great job at Aston Villa and he has the capability to shine at Chelsea. Hence, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Abraham is a regular for Chelsea next season.
