Germany and Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger believes that Eden Hazard can re-write history for Chelsea.
The Belgian is off to his best scoring start this season in a Chelsea shirt and Rudiger believes that Hazard can break the 40-goal barrier. Chelsea’s record scored in a season is Jimmy Greaves when he scored 43 goals in 1960-61.
Rudiger said: “With respect to the others, I think in the Premier League they are not stupid players, so to reach 40 goals…? But maybe he can do it.”
“We need to respect the other teams, it’s not like they are bad or something. He is human, of course he is. but the way he is playing is fantastic. We all know what he is capable of. I am happy that he scored on Sunday.”
Rudiger said: “The thing is, every position he is doing his thing, he is strong. He will also challenge big players in the air. He is doing a fantastic job. Long balls to Eden doesn’t make sense, so we need to keep the ball on the floor.
“It is not just Eden, it is all the players. I go to protect and that’s it. Eden gets kicked often, because he is good. I think he will be fine. He is a leader. He provides a good example, not by speaking but by showing. He is very good.”
All that remains for Eden to do now is score another 35 goals!
