Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that Eden Hazard will miss their Europa League clash against BATE Borisov due to a back injury. However, the Belgian will play Sunday’s Premier League match against Burnley.

Chelsea play their third Europa League encounter against Belarussian club BATE Borisov tonight. However, Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that they will be without their star player for the match.

Sarri said, “Hazard is out for sure. He has a back problem. We are trying to solve the problem for Sunday.”

The Italian has also said that he will rest Jorginho for the match against BATE.

He said, “This match is not a big problem, because we have to play after five days from the last match. The problem will be on Sunday, because on Sunday we will play after 65 hours. So we need to change some of them.

For example, Jorginho we need to rest now, because he played 90 minutes the two matches with the international team [Italy], and then he played for 100 minutes in the last match [against Manchester United, which had 10 minutes of injury time]. It’s time to rest for him.”

Even if Chelsea do not have Hazard and Jorginho, BATE is a team well within their reach. Hence, even if Chelsea bench any of their first-choice players, it is very unlikely they won’t win against BATE tonight.
