Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick has congratulated Timo Werner on his move to Chelsea.

He feels that the move was a good idea and Chelsea made the right pick for their team.

“Timo is a very good player, also a player who scores,” he said. “Chelsea made a very good commitment – if that’s the case.”

“This is a decision Timo made. And you have to respect that, everything is okay,” he added.

Liverpool former star Steve Nicol commented on the decision the Reds took not to sign Timo Werner – whether it was good or not.

“Regardless of how good you are, you have to make sure you stay where you are at the very least,” he said.

“That means you need competition for places.

“No question, Werner would have given the front three – as great as they are and have been – it would have kept them on their toes.

“The front three of Liverpool can now breathe a little easier.

“I think Liverpool have slipped up here,” he added.

Liverpool was hot on Werner’s heels to get him onto their side, however, the price tag proved to be too hefty for them.

“Saying that, I wouldn’t be surprised if Werner had something to do with this.

“At the end of the day, if you want to go somewhere you can make it happen. It looks to me like Werner has changed his mind.”
