Hakim Ziyech Needs Two Years To Adjust At Chelsea

Former Chelsea winger, Bolo Zeden thinks Hakim Ziyech needs to be given time at Chelsea.

Since his £40m arrival from Ajax last summer, fans have seen a worrying drop in form.

He no longer dictates the attack like he was expected to and often drops in and out of the line up. Without any real stake to a starting role, Ziyech might find it hard to continue at Chelsea but Zeden still has hope.

“Give the boy some time,” he told De Telegraaf. “They are not problems. I think adjustment time is rather normal. You have to make yourself familiar with a number of things at a new club.

“It is only a problem if you do not reach your old level after two years. Or if you want to return to the Netherlands after six months because you miss your cheese sandwich.”

Ziyech is not exactly young for a winger. He is experienced at 28 years old and was expected to be a starting figure by now.

Zenden continued: “At Chelsea, he not only had to deal with a new style of play and different teammates, but now he was also in another country, another culture and – do not underestimate – another, much more intense competition. Even though you’re 27, that just has an impact.”
