Graham Potter has spoken candidly about his efforts to address Chelsea’s goal-scoring problems while reiterating that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains in his plans
Chelsea is having a really difficult season; they are presently ranked 10th in the Premier League after recording just one victory in their previous eight league games.
In those eight games, the Blues have only managed to score four goals. Speaking ahead of Sunday’s match against Spurs, Graham Potter said that while his team has “made steps” to increase their attacking production, he is “focussed” on doing so even more.
In contrast to Chelsea’s poor offensive performance, the Blues have a respectable defensive record; they are tied for second place in the entire division in terms of goals against, with Newcastle having given up fewer.
Potter thinks his team is setting up opportunities but not quite capitalising on them. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hasn’t been a part of a matchday team since January 21 despite the club’s goal-scoring woes; the Gabonese player was left off Chelsea’s Champions League roster.
Potter maintains that the ex-Arsenal striker does have a spot in the team and is a possibility to play against Spurs.
