Chelsea FC goal of the year 2022: Mateo Kovacic vs Liverpool

The Croatian midfielder’s volley against Liverpool in the 2021/22 season earned him Chelsea’s Goal of the Year award. The Blues were 2-0 down at Stamford Bridge when Kovacic sensationally pulled one back after the ball was punched away to the edge of the box by Liverpool shot-stopper Caoimhin Kelleher.

It was only Kovacic’s fourth Chelsea goal since signing in 2018 and helped secure a memorable point at the Bridge.

Chelsea FC goal of the year 2019: Eden Hazard vs Liverpool

It is none other than Eden Hazard who won this award yet again. And he scored a winner this time in a tight match against the mighty Liverpool in a cup knockout game that too. He came on as a substitute with the scores tied at 1-1 and the Belgian single-handedly took the club to the next round by knocking out Liverpool in their own backyard.

He collected the ball on the right hand side and shrugged off a defender before playing a one-two. Then he flashed past another couple before entering the box and then wrong footed Robertson to go wide and unleashed a thunderbolt from his right foot to the far post leaving Alisson hapless and defenders in total disarray as they tackled aimlessly. Here check it out below.

Chelsea FC goal of the year 2017: Eden Hazard vs Arsenal

Well Eden Hazard won this award again. And it was against our rivals Arsenal. Hazard sure likes to score against our London rivals! Chelsea were winning 1-0 against Arsenal at home, but the game was still a fairly even affair. Until a magical moment from Eden Hazard.

The Belgian star collected the ball from the halfway line, dribbled with it up the field. Then he casually shrugged off a defender, sending him spiraling to the ground. Hazard then cut inside from the right wing and bypassed about three or four Arsenal defenders by pretending to shoot and then put the ball into the back of the net. He made seasoned Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny look like a Sunday league defender!

It was a glorious solo-run and goal from the Belgian wizard. Check it out below.

Eden Hazard spoke about the goal afterwards via The Guardian:

“That was the best memory of last year because of the rivalry with Tottenham,’ Hazard said.

“I was on the bench, we were losing 2-0 at the break and had been up against it.

“At half-time we were in that dressing-room saying, ‘Lads, it’s 26 years since we last lost to Tottenham here. This isn’t the day that record is going to end’.

“It kick-started us. Gary Cahill scored from a corner, and then my goal.

“Even a 2-2 draw felt like a victory because it had been such a difficult season, and we knew we had wounded our local rivals in Tottenham. Leicester were the ones who really enjoyed that night, of course.”

Chelsea FC 2016 goal of the year: Eden Hazard vs Spurs

Blues star Eden Hazard scored a great goal against Tottenham Hotspurs in 2016. His goal came late in the second half while trailing 2-1. It was a feisty game with a lot of fouls and yellow cards. Spurs needed a win to keep up with league leaders Leicester City. If Spurs either lost or drew the game against Chelsea, then Leicester would win the Premier League title. Well, Spurs decided that they were going to play dirty to win.

But a spectacular moment from Eden Hazard completely ruined Spur’s chances of winning the title. Losing 2-1 at home, the Belgian star decided he wasn’t going to let Spurs win the title. So after a magnificent one-two pass, Eden Hazard cut into the box and curled in a stunner which tied the game.

It was a fantastic Premier League moment as Leicester fans all over the world celebrated Eden Hazard’s goal- along with Chelsea fans. Take a look at the goal below.

Oscar spoke about his goal via ChelseaFC.com: “Cesc gave a beautiful pass to me. It was perfect for shooting and when the ball came I decided now, I need to shoot. I don’t know if it is my best goal, I need to see it again, but it was a nice goal.

“Cesc helps the team so much. Not just with the assists but in a game he helps everyone, with beautiful passes like the one for me in this game. He has come in this year and played so well and I like playing together with him.”

Eden Hazard also spoke about Oscar’s goal stating: “Sometimes this guy can score a beautiful goal – the free-kick against Crystal Palace, this one against QPR.

“He is a very good player and his shooting is very good.”
