The Chelsea boss has said something about Giroud that makes his chances of moving to West Ham and Aston Villa more likely this season.

Frank Lampard has confirmed that Olivier Giroud is definitely going to make a move in this January transfer window and will be leaving Chelsea.

Giroud has only started two games in the season and has fallen behind in importance to striker Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi.

The 33-year old French striker has barely 6 months left on his deal with Chelsea – and so now the Blues are looking to let him go to another club and sign a new striker if needed.

“There’s no update on Ollie, but I’ve spoken with him,” Lampard spoke about Giroud leaving, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“If the conditions are that it’s something he really wants to do and it works for the club, for me and the squad then it’s something that could happen.

“But only when all of those bases are covered. So we’ll see if we’re there.”

Of course, Giroud might have lost some of skills but he has a lot of experience – which will prove to be of great importance to some clubs. West Ham United are reportedly seen to be interested in the French striker and struck up a negotiation for him.

Further, Aston Villa is also in the race because Wesley, their summer signing, is out injured and won’t be able to play for the season at all. They are currently in search of a new striker and Giroud fits the bill for them.
