The Premier League season has begun with Chelsea off to a positive start. Simply put, Enzo Maresca has gone into four walls of instability and a Chelsea team that feels like it could blow up at any time, so it has never been and it won’t be easy for him. That’s what occurs when you try to change so fast and spend so much money that you hire young talent and then fire managers just for kicks.
Since they succeeded the once highly regarded Roman Abramovich, the Chelsea hierarchy has endured a great deal of harsh abuse. However, there seems to be a chance that there may be hope, and there’s a man who’s demonstrating it quite well. Gianfranco Zola talked about Cole Palmer’s incredible feats since the end of the previous season and the brilliance he is displaying while wearing Chelsea colours.
Zola surprised by Palmer’s Chelsea impact
Gianfranco Zola thinks Cole Palmer is a “top player,” but the England international’s effect at Chelsea has taken him by surprise. Palmer, who joined the Blues at the beginning of the previous campaign, holds a great deal of power at Stamford Bridge. Palmer was named the Premier League’s Young Player of the Year. Since making his Premier League debut in September 2023, he has contributed to 44 goals (28 goals and 16 assists).
In that time, no other competitor has personally assisted on as many goals. He has already created history against Brighton by being the first player to score four goals in the first half of a Premier League game. He has the most goals and assists of any Chelsea player this season, with six goals and five assists in the league.
