Gary Neville confused with one Chelsea transfer this January

Chelsea have spent £100million-plus on Enzo Fernandez in January.

The Blues broke the British record transfer fee of £106.8million for the Argentine midfielder.

They will definitely struggle when they come around to selling the 22-year-old attacking midfielder.

He’s been a hot asset in Europe after Argentina won the World Cup this year.

Pundit Gary Neville claims Chelsea made a mistake by signing the midfielder for such a colossal transfer fee.

Fernandez definitely is one of the very best young players in the world and Chelsea wanted to have an all-action midfielder who can offer in every department.

“Cucurella, £64million. Fernandez, £105million. That’s a full-back and that’s a midfield player that’s sitting at the base of a three,” Neville told The Overlap.

“The ceiling on those types of players like Rodri, Fabinho, Casemiro, they’re £50-60million positions. These aren’t players that are playing the forward part of the pitch scoring 30 goals.

“I’m not saying the players are not good, the players could be really good and go on to be great, but the positions you’re buying the players in for the fees, it seems madness to me.”
