Frank Lampard said that his first game as Chelsea manager was a good workout for the club.
Chelsea began their pre-season campaign with a draw against Irish club Bohemians at Dublin.
Michy Batshuayi put Chelsea ahead after just 8 minutes after cashing in on a pass from Kenedy. Chelsea had several scoring opportunities but could not extend their lead.
During the last minutes of the game, Bohemians equalised thanks to Eric Molloy.
Following the match, Lampard told Chelsea TV: “It was a tough game for us, we haven’t been back for long. There was a bit of pressure on the lads, we’ve been working them hard so I’m pleased with the outcome.
Fitness was our issue, we worked them hard this morning.I wanted to stretch them a bit and put them under pressure, it’s what pre-season is about.
The quicker we get to the level we want, the better obviously. We wanted to win the game, but it’s not about that. It’s about individuals getting fit and pushing themselves to the limit.”
Chelsea’s next pre-season game is against St.Patrick’s Athletic at Dublin on Saturday.
