Frank Lampard Needs To Make Snap Decision On £30m Chelsea Midfielder

Frank Lampard is being pushed to make a quick decision on Chelsea winger, Willian as Barcelona continues to hover with a £30m offer.

The newly appointed Blues boss is currently in Japan, making a shortlist of all the players who might feature under him in the upcoming season and the ones who need to be cut off. Willian still has a year left on his contract but it is still uncertain whether he will be strongly implemented into the 41-year-old’s plans.

Willian’s compatriot, David Luiz has already been rewarded with a two-year contract extension this year even though Chelsea have a rule of not giving out more than one year to players above 30.

The Brazilian winger earned a late callup for his national team in June, to feature in the Copa America. He has been a regular at Chelsea ever since he came into the side in 2013.

Reports claim that he is holding out for a similar deal as Luiz and it all depends on Lampard, whether he will get one. Chelsea do have options in the wing after signing Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund and promoting Callum Hudson-Odoi from their youth setup.

However, the latter is not expected to be back before September and the Blues have also lost Eden Hazard to Real Madrid this summer. Keeping Willian would be the best choice since he is already established in the Chelsea squad and Lampard might need a dependable figure like him to make his debut season back in the club, a bit easier.
