Lampard acknowledged that building consistency with a young team is challenging, but he feels the current strategy offers flexibility and options for growth.
“Chelsea have had a difficult few years with transitions and changes, but now they’re in a good position to push for a top-four spot,” Lampard said.
He noted that the club’s current fourth-place standing in the table reflects the positive shift happening under Maresca’s leadership.
Lampard also commended the performances of young stars like Cole Palmer, who made headlines with a historic four-goal display against Brighton.
He emphasized the importance of Chelsea’s young core, stating, “There’s a lot of new faces, and it’s understandable why they haven’t competed at their best recently. But now, they’re heading in the right direction.”
While Lampard identified Arsenal and Liverpool as the main contenders to challenge Manchester City’s dominance, he remains confident that Chelsea can break back into the top four.
“With the talent they’ve got, they’re ready to compete again,” he concluded.
