Chelsea in discussions to sell one of their attacking players to Monaco

Gallagher, Sarr, Kepa, Bergstrom, and Ziyech: The countdown to decision day at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea faces crucial decisions with five key players nearing the end of their contracts in 2025. Conor Gallagher, Malang Sarr, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Lucas Bergstrom, and Hakim Ziyech could all leave Stamford Bridge for free if their situations remain unchanged.

Gallagher, currently shining with England at Euro 2024, finds his future in limbo. Last season, he played a pivotal role under Mauricio Pochettino, yet speculation about his departure persists, with Aston Villa and Tottenham keen on the midfielder.

Chelsea must decide whether to offer Gallagher a new contract or sell him to avoid losing him for nothing.

Malang Sarr has become a forgotten figure at the club. Relegated to training with the Under-21s and missing out on a January loan move to Le Havre, Sarr’s time at Chelsea seems all but over. His departure appears imminent as both parties seek a resolution.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, also faces an uncertain future. After spending last season on loan at Real Madrid, Kepa’s contract will expire in a year.

Chelsea needs to determine whether to reintegrate him or find a permanent exit to recoup some value from their hefty investment.

Lucas Bergstrom’s situation remains unique. Currently on loan at IF Brommapojkarna in Sweden, Bergstrom’s future won’t be addressed until he returns to Chelsea next year. The young goalkeeper has time, but a decision will be necessary soon.

Hakim Ziyech’s departure seems more straightforward. After a successful loan at Galatasaray, the Turkish club looks set to sign him permanently.

Ziyech’s tenure at Chelsea saw him win the Champions League, Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup, but his journey now points away from London.

Chelsea’s new manager, Enzo Maresca, has a busy summer ahead, balancing incoming transfers with crucial contract decisions to prevent losing valuable players for free.
