Football pundit Rio Ferdinand has hailed Frank Lampard.
“When we played, [Lampard would never speak], but I went to the training ground, Frank Lampard the manager is the most prominent, loudest voice on the training ground,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport.
“Barking orders, authority was there in his voice from the word go.
“I was so impressed with the way he coached the team, it surprised me yeah.
“I was really looking forward to see what he was going to be like as a manager, as a coach on the training field and I’ve got nothing but positives to say about that experience of seeing that.”
However, Ferdinand was critical of Chelsea in the defeat to Bayern Munich.
“It was an absolute education. It was a clinic put on by this Bayern team. They never really got out of second gear,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport.
“Gnabry didn’t really feature in the first half, comes out second half and scores two exquisite goals. They just showed they had that quality at the top of the pitch.
“The two midfielders Kimmich and Thiago controlled the tempo of the game and when the ball got into the final third, these boys – Gnabry, Lewandowski, Davies, Muller – they were devastating when they got the opportunity. They were so clinical.”
