Chelsea are closing in on another major sale, with striker Armando Broja in advanced talks to join Burnley in a deal worth around £20 million. If completed, the transfer will push the club’s total summer earnings from player sales close to £180 million.
Chelsea near £180m summer sales as Armando Broja edges closer to Burnley move
According to reports, Chelsea and Burnley have reached a broad agreement for Broja, though personal terms are still being negotiated.
Fabrizio Romano initially signaled the move with his trademark “here we go,” but BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella clarified that discussions between the player and Burnley are ongoing.
The 23-year-old Albanian forward, who has struggled for consistent minutes at Stamford Bridge, has attracted interest from Bundesliga clubs in the past.
However, Burnley have now emerged as the frontrunners to secure his signature.
Broja’s potential departure follows a series of high-profile exits this summer, including Kepa Arrizabalaga, Noni Madueke, and Joao Felix, helping Chelsea generate approximately £158 million so far.
Additional sales, such as young defenders Ishe Samuels-Smith and Mathis Amougou to sister club Strasbourg, have further boosted their finances.
With Champions League qualification and Club World Cup earnings already strengthening their position, Chelsea remain active in the market.
Journalist Simon Phillips reports they are still targeting a goalkeeper, centre-back, and possibly a striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson.
More departures could follow, with Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, and Trevoh Chalobah among those who may leave before the deadline.
If Broja’s move to Burnley is finalized, Chelsea’s total sales will reach around £178 million, underlining their status as one of Europe’s most effective selling clubs.
For now, all eyes remain on Broja’s decision as Burnley await his approval to complete the deal.
