Tyrique George has shown interest in joining Everton on loan from Chelsea. With Jack Grealish out for the remainder of the season and the Manchester City loanee perhaps needing surgery to fix a stress fracture in his foot, the Toffees suffered a severe setback.
In the last days of the transfer window, it could compel the Blues to add another forward. According to The Athletic, “the Merseyside club anticipates facing significant competition from clubs in England and Europe for the 19-year-old winger, who has only made five starts for Chelsea this season.”
Last summer, George was on the verge of leaving Chelsea to sign a permanent contract with Fulham, but his parents are now considering loan possibilities. Although Everton is still looking at the market, manager David Moyes stated that “it’s probably less likely than likely” that they would finish up doing business at the pre-match news conference before taking on Brighton.
Everton closing in on winger signing
According to reports, Everton is offering the 19-year-old a six-month loan with the option to purchase him in the summer. This season, George has made eleven appearances: three in the League Cup, four in the Champions League, and four in the Premier League. In less than 500 minutes of play in the last two tournaments, he has three goals and one assist.
On the final day of the summer transfer window, the striker was on the verge of signing for Fulham, but the deal fell through. Along with increased interest from the continent, Sunderland is apparently also interested in the player as well.
Dwight McNeil is reportedly a target for former Everton manager Sean Dyche at Nottingham Forest, but the Toffees are reportedly preventing the transfer until a successor is found. Will Everton be searching for two wingers, though, because Grealish is already out?
Moyes expressed optimism that the Blues will buy at least one player before the transfer market closes on Monday night following the thrilling late draw against Brighton.
